THE MAGIC OF THE MAGNUM FORMAT

Magnum (1.5 L) is officially recognized as the best format for aging sparkling wines made using the traditional champagne method. At Grande Vallée, we have created the first magnums in Ukraine aged using the “méthode traditionnelle” to offer you a different philosophy of taste.
A bit of history: Why is 1.5 liters ideal?
The name “Magnum” comes from the Latin word meaning “great,” but professionals call it “optimal.” The main reason lies in the oxygen-to-wine ratio. In a magnum, this ratio is twice as low as in a standard bottle, allowing the wine to develop more slowly, gaining remarkable elegance and a complex bouquet after at least 18 months of aging on the lees.
Why did we choose the traditional method for Magnum?
Our magnums undergo secondary fermentation directly in the bottle. 1.5 liters means more space for the yeast to evolve and develop that signature “creamy” character.
Characteristics of Magnum Grande Vallée (1.5 L):
Method: Traditional method (from 18 months on the lees)
Potential: Deep flavor and more expressive development
Perlage: Fine, persistent, evenly distributed bubbles

Aromatic profile of Magnum refinement

White Brut (100% Chardonnay): Restrained elegance. Light notes of apple and citrus intertwine with the noble aroma of freshly baked bread. It has a delicate lemon color, brilliant perlage, and perfectly balanced acidity..jpg)
Rosé Brut (100% Pinot Noir): Berry sophistication. Subtle aromas of strawberry and raspberry, complemented by delicate creamy notes. The wine has a soft pink color and a silky texture that unfolds into a multilayered finish.
Tasting culture (Serving recommendations)
Temperature: For magnum, this is critical — ideally 7–9°C. Keep in mind that a large bottle takes longer to chill, so it should be prepared in advance.
Glassware: Choose glasses that allow the wine to “breathe” in order to fully experience the aromas developed during 18 months of aging.
Food pairing: Magnum is a perfect companion for shellfish (oysters, mussels), fish dishes, and soft cheeses. Rosé brut also pairs beautifully with delicate desserts.
